The event was organised by Datateam Business Media Group, the publisher of Housewares Magazine and digital partner Housewareslive.net. This year saw it working with Spring Fair to bring the Housewares Innovation Awards to Birmingham for the first time. The move more than paid off, with nearly 400 members of the trade descending upon the Vox Conference Centre to celebrate excellence in the housewares sector.
The evening kicked off with a fabulous champagne reception, before award winning journalist, writer and broadcaster Jay Rayner took to the stage to welcome guests and present the first few awards. A sumptuous three course meal was then served, before Jay returned to the stage to reveal the remainder of the winners.
All products were judged by an expert panel including David Conduit from Harts of Stur; Tom Carter and Alison Hobbs from Potters Cookshop; Malcolm and Melanie Harradine from MJ Harradine; Bruce Crane from Loose’s Cookshop and Trisha Schofield from Good Housekeeping Institute.
Sponsored by Spring Fair, Auteur picked up the Kitchenware Innovation Award for Scoop That! (Ice cream scoop) and Spread That! (butter knife). Judges described the design of the scoop as ‘brilliant’, ‘clever’ and ‘easy to use’. They also liked how the knife can be used for separating frozen foods as well as chilled butter. The great thing about both products, they said, is that they are ‘universal – suitable for children and the elderly and good for everyday use!’
Event director, Hannah Dedman said: “These awards are designed to shine a spotlight on the UK’s most outstanding retailers and suppliers for ensuring that the end user, the consumer, gets the service, quality, style and functionality they expect. Congratulations to Auteur for joining the ranks as a Housewares Innovation Award winner.”

Inspired by Japanese Sake culture, HeatTHAT! Sake redefines Sake experiences via pioneering material technology and elegant structure. The accompanied heating pad absorbs microwave energy for one full minute then slowly releases heat for an extended period of time. The bottle is designed to fit the heating pad for maximum energy transfer. The result is a sustainable, green design that uses indirect radiant heat to bring out the best in Sake. Click here to buy!

SpreadTHAT! II is the winner of 2015 Progressive Housewares "Innovation in Product Award", joining 2015 winners Le Creuset, Joseph&Joseph, and other fine brands around the world. Cheers to our UK partner @Auteur and #spreadthelove!
SpreadTHAT! softens butter for quicker, easier spreading by carrying warmth from the palm of your hand to the edge of the blade. Use the serrated edge to shave off fine curls of butter straight onto your toast, and then gently draw the blade over them for a smoother, more even layer of butter right out of the fridge. No waiting, no clumping – just a better slice of toast, made easy. Click here to buy!
