Most new product ideas are probably inspired by real life annoyances and this is no exception. Having butter slide off a butter dish became our biggest complaint (now that we have the super duper butter spreader). This holder has a retainer wall for your hand to rest on, rails on both sides to keep the butter in place while you scrape. The retractable kick-stand lifts the holder into an ergonomic position to help folks with arthritis or wrist injuries. And the magnetic cover (took 6 months to dial in the magnetic force) keeps the cover secure when traveling inside RV's or out to picnics.
